Mike White to direct Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

Lionsgate Films has confirmed that Mike White, who has directed SCHOOL OF ROCK and NACHO LIBRE, will direct the upcoming film PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES which will be produced by Natalie Portman. No casting news has been announced or confirmed, although Portman would make a great Elizabeth Bennet. The film is based on the novel of the same name written by Seth Grahame-Smith and Jane Austen and pretty much just follows the story of Pride and Prejudice with a good dose of the walking dead thrown in. No word on when production is to begin.

I’m going to admit a dirty secret right now, I didn’t like Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice-there now it’s out in the open. I actually read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies thinking I could get through the entire book because there were zombies but it was still tough. I think the story is great but Austen just isn’t my thing, however, I do love watching films based on her books so I do think this film will be a fun watch especially with Mike White attached.
