My Fair Lady remake may get new director

Posted by: Kristy Sturdivant

Director John Madden is in talks to take on the remake of MY FAIR LADY.  The movie will be based more on the book by Alan Jay Lerner than the film starring Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison from 1964.  Previous directors that have been associated with film include: Baz Luhrmann, Danny Boyle and Stephen Daldry. No one has been set to play the main characters of Eliza Doolittle or Professor Henry Higgins although Kiera Knightley has been campaigning for the role.

I’m a little horrified that Hollywood would remake a classic musical like MY FAIR LADY.  There are so many less iconic musicals out there I don’t think they need to touch this one, what’s next a remake of SOUND OF MUSIC?
