Naomi Watts joins Leonardo DiCaprio in Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar

We’ve officially heard so much about Clint Eastwood’s upcoming J. Edgar Hoover biopic, J. EDGAR, that I’m sick of it and they haven’t even started filming yet. For the longest time, Charlize Theron was rumored to be playing the female lead in the film, Helen Gandy. Gandy was Hoover’s trustworthy secretary and the keeper of all of his secrets. But now that Theron has stepped aside, the role has been given to the very capable hands of Naomi Watts. Watts isn’t that much different of an actress as Charlize Theron, but I’m curious to see how she plays off of Leonardo DiCaprio.
The cast has shaped up very nicely, but I’m still not sure how they’re going to make this film work. So much that we know about J. Edgar Hoover is hearsay and rumor, so I’m anxious to see how they handle the sensitive topics. So far, the film stars Leo in the title role, Josh Lucas, Armie Hammer, Ed Westwick and Judi Dench. Clint Eastwood is directing.
