Nicolas Cage attached to star alongside Sylvester Stallone in The Expendables 3
Can we say overconfident much? THE EXPENDABLES 2 hasn’t even hit theaters yet (it opens this weekend on August 17th), but producer Avi Lerner is apparently convinced that the film will rake in the big bucks, so why not start looking for stars for the next film? According to Lerner, he’s already got Nicolas Cage on board and will be approaching some other big names. He said in an interview, “We’ve approached Clint Eastwood to be one of the guys, we’ve got a character in mind for him. We’re talking to Harrison Ford. [And we want] Wesley Snipes when he comes back from prison. I’ll give you one more name, we’ve got Nicolas Cage to play [one of the characters].” I can’t imagine Clint Eastwood or Harrison Ford would sign on, but it’s not so surprising Nicolas Cage would join, and really, what else has Wesley Snipes got to do (after prison of course). Keep in mind that this isn’t a done deal just yet, but if you all go see THE EXPENDABLES 2 this weekend, then you will probably see another film with the same characters in the next couple of years.
THE EXPENDABLES 2 stars: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Dolph Lundgren, Liam Hemsworth, Chuck Norris, Yu Nan and Jean-Claude Van Damme. The Simon West directed film hits theaters everywhere on August 17th, 2012. (Total Film)
