Noomi Rapace and Jeremy Renner to star in Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters

I’ve been waiting quite a while for Noomi Rapace to get a big break in an American film. Rapace was just incredible in the Swedish version of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO and I’ve been anxious to catch her playing a character other than Lisbeth Salander. It looks like she’s going to get her chance in the upcoming HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS. If Jeremy Renner is to be believed, she’ll be starring with him in the film that tells the story of Hansel and Gretel 15 years after their fabled encounter with some evil witches. Only now, the kids are all grown up and they’re professional bounty hunters looking for some payback. The film will be directed by Tommy Wirkola.

I’m not sure Rapace and Renner make the best teaming as Renner seems quite a bit older than her, but I like the idea of the film and I love the casting of Rapace. I also don’t know when Renner will be able to do this since he has MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 4 and THE AVENGERS coming up very quickly.
