No one told Bryan Cranston he's Lex Luthor
As is usually the case with these rumors, when the actor in question is confronted with the rumor, he or she usually denies any knowledge of what’s going on. Whether or not that’s true or if it’s just posturing, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the rumor won’t some day be true. But in the case of Bryan Cranston signing on for six movies as Lex Luthor, for now I wouldn’t put too much stock into it. When confronted about the rumor (that started in England, a sure sign it’s unsubstantiated), Bryan Cranston responded appropriately when asked by Boston.com: “Six? This is all news to me, I think that maybe my name is bandied about because I’m known to be bald. ‘What bald guy can we get?’ The reality is they can take any actor and shave his head or put a bald cap on him.”
So there you have it. He technically didn’t come right out and say he wasn’t playing Lex Luthor, but I think it’s safe to say nothing is official yet, regardless of how bad Warner Bros. wants him. I would imagine any announcement about Lex Luthor would be tied closer to the Blu-ray release of MAN OF STEEL, which hits shelves on November 5th. For now, what we do know is that Zack Snyder will be directing the MAN OF STEEL sequel, which will heavily feature a Batman vs. Superman storyline and will star Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, along with returning MAN OF STEEL stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane. Production will start early next year and the film will hit theaters on July 17, 2015.
