Ophelia Lovibond joins Jim Carrey and Carla Gugino in Mr. Popper’s Penguins

The cast for Jim Carrey’s MR. POPPER’S PENGUINS is starting to shape up nicely. We just learned that the lovely Carla Gugino would be starring in the film as Mr. Popper’s wife and now we learn that up and coming British actress Ophelia Lovibond will be playing Mr. Popper’s assistant. Lovibond has starred in a few things that American audiences would recognize, most notably she was John Lennon’s love interest in NOWHERE BOY and has roles in the upcoming films NO STRINGS and LONDON BOULEVARD. She’s not a household name yet, but she has an impressive slate of films coming up, so it shouldn’t be long.
MR. POPPER’S PENGUINS is about a businessman that writes a letter to his favorite Antarctic explorer and is rewarded when he receives six penguins. This, of course, leads Popper to go through a series of outlandish events, but as he becomes attached to the penguins, he ultimately realizes the importance of family. Mark Waters will be directing.
