Oren Moverman is writing the script for a film on Beach Boy Brian Wilson

The Beach Boys have a few interesting apples in the group. While Dennis Wilson did strike up a sort of friendship and fascination with Charles Manson, his brother Brian might be the odder case.

At the peak of his career and after the birth of his Daughter, Brian Wilson’s creativity drained and let him to spent three years in his bedroom sleeping, taking drugs, and overeating. Over time his health worsened and Wilson got involved with some misleading characters who promised to help him. Later the artist was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type which explained why he heard voices in his head. Now Wilson seems to be back to some sort of normal and is still making music.

So with his background it’s quite natural that someone would want to make a movie about him. Oren Moverman wrote the Bob Dylan biopic, I’M NOT THERE, co-wrote/directed THE MESSENGER, and is also working on a Kurt Cobain project. However, this is not really a biopic. Producers Bill Pohlad and John Wells are closely working with Brian and his wife Melinda on the film. This is the only input Pohlad had to offer, “I have no interest in making a biopic.”
