Oscar Isaac joins X-Men: Apocalypse as the film’s villain
Just yesterday, a rumor hit the internet that Idris Elba was going to play the main villain in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE and that came after the rumor that the role was going to Tom Hardy. Well, it turns out that neither of them are correct and the truth is, the X-Men will be facing off against Oscar Isaac as he has just accepted the role of En Sabah Nur, aka “The First One”. We’ve already seen this character in action before, albeit briefly, during the end credits scene of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. At that time, he was played by Brendan Pedder, but obviously that wasn’t going to last.
Oscar Isaac is on quite a tear lately. He wowed audiences last year in the under-appreciated INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS and is getting Oscar buzz for this year’s A MOST VIOLENT YEAR. Oh, and he also has a role in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII – THE FORCE AWAKENS, which should put him on the map for anyone that doesn’t already know who he is. But this role in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE might be his best break yet since so many actors in Hollywood were gunning for it. We don’t know much about the next X-Men film yet, but we do know that the romance between Michael Fassbender’s Magneto and Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique will play a pivotal role.
