Pacific Rim reveals two new posters of Robots vs. Monsters
Originally I thought PACIFIC RIM just looked ridiculous. But as we get closer to the opening date, I’m beginning to think it looks ridiculously awesome! Maybe it’s the fact that Guillermo del Toro is directing or perhaps it’s my inner child mixed with my dumb male testosterone, but I’m officially excited for this potential train wreck. The two new posters reveal an individual robot and monster like playing cards with their name, origin and stats. I think the marketing team would be wise to continue with this sort of advertisement because this looks like plain fun. PACIFIC RIM (click the link to watch the trailer) stars: Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Ron Perlman, Charlie Day, Clifton Collins Jr., Rinko Kikuchi, Robert Maillet and Burn Gorman. The Guillermo del Toro film will hit 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters on July 12. (Warner Bros.)
PACIFIC RIM official synopsis: When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
