Pedro Almodovar and Antonio Banderas reteaming for new film

Posted by: Brad Sturdivant

It has been over 20 years since Pedro Almodovar and Antonio Banderas last worked on the film TIE ME UP, TIE ME DOWN, but today they announced they will be reunited for the film LA PIEL QUE HABITO. The film is a very loose adaptation of Thierry Jonquet’s novel ‘Mygale’.  The film is considered a thriller and follows the exploits of a plastic surgeon that seeks revenge of the man that raped his daughter.  Originally, Penelope Cruz was going to star with Banderas in the film, but it has undergone 9 rewrites and now she doesn’t have a role.

Almodovar is one of the better directors working today, but he still lacks a big hit with American audiences.  This one doesn’t sound like it will it the bill, but I’m still excited about it.  I’m sure Almodovar can do wonders with the revenge/obsessed angle.
