After Peter Jackson gets done with THE HOBBIT, he will move on to another mo-cap effort– the sequel to THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN.
The plan for the trilogy went as follows: Steven Spielberg directs the first film, then Peter Jackson takes the second, and the third goes to, well, an unnamed someone. Jackson confirmed today with simply a “yes” that he would direct the sequel. Spielberg said that the screenplay was already written so the process would be a quick one to jump on. So as soon as Jackson is finished up with THE HOBBIT then he can move on to the world of mo-cap animation.
Anthony Horowitz penned the screenplay to the sequel which is tentatively titled, THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN: PRISONERS OF THE SUN. The story will combine PRISONERS OF THE SUN and THE SEVEN CRYSTAL BALLS. The plot follows Tintin and Captain Haddock investigating a strange illness that has befallen seven explorers who have discovered an Incan tomb, before traveling to Peru to get to the bottom of the mystery.
