Philip Seymour Hoffman to join Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace in Child 44
Thespian Philip Seymour Hoffman looks to be joining the already impressive cast of CHILD 44, which includes Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace. Hoffman is one of those actors that instantly makes any film better and raises the level of everyone involved, so I now have a lot of faith in CHILD 44. After his fourth Oscar nomination for last year’s THE MASTER, Hoffman will be starring in the blockbuster THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE later this year. Directed by Daniel Espinosa, CHILD 44 is an adaptation from the bestselling novel from Tom Rob Smith and will star Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, Gary Oldman, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Joel Kinnaman.
CHILD 44 official synopsis from Amazon: In a country ruled by fear, no one is innocent. Stalin’s Soviet Union is an official paradise, where citizens live free from crime and fear only one thing: the all-powerful state. Defending this system is idealistic security officer Leo Demidov, a war hero who believes in the iron fist of the law. But when a murderer starts to kill at will and Leo dares to investigate, the State’s obedient servant finds himself demoted and exiled. Now, with only his wife at his side, Leo must fight to uncover shocking truths about a killer-and a country where “crime” doesn’t exist.
