Pixar delivers a new trailer for Brave
Pixar has released another new trailer for its next film BRAVE and it looks fantastic. Maybe it’s the beautiful saturated colors and mystical, dreamy landscapes or maybe it’s the charming Scottish accents, but this film just shot up a couple of spots on my must see summer movie list. Pixar has a lot to prove (to me anyway) after the flop and commercialized Pixar’s CARS 2, but I think they will easily reel me back in their good graces with BRAVE. They already have me hooked with a red-headed lead who shoots a bow and arrow.
Here is the synopsis of the upcoming Pixar film BRAVE, “Determined to make her own path in life, Princess Merida defies a custom that brings chaos to her kingdom. Granted one wish, Merida must rely on her bravery and her archery skills to undo a beastly curse.” The film features the characters: Merida (voiced by Kelly Macdonald), Merida’s parents King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson) and Merida’s potential suitors Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson), Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd) and Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane). Pixar’s BRAVE hits theaters on June 22, 2012.
Sometimes I love how Hollywood falls in-sync with their films without trying to. This year it appears we’ll get two strong female leads that happen to be expert archers (Katniss Everdeen in THE HUNGER GAMES and now Princess Merida in Pixar’s BRAVE). It’s a nice happenstance and will hopefully give young girls some nice role models. Though I do think I would probably steer my younger daughter towards Pixar’s BRAVE as opposed to THE HUNGER GAMES. Not because I don’t love THE HUNGER GAMES (because I do), but because I would love for my kid to go around imitating a Scottish accent. I’ll bet you thought I was going to mention something about the violence in THE HUNGER GAMES, but I have to keep you guys on your toes.
