Pixar releases a new Monsters, Inc. 3D poster

Pixar has decided to sell out jump on the band wagon and release a couple of their films in 3D over the next couple of months. First up is Pixar’s FINDING NEMO which will be re-released in theaters in 3D on September 14th, 2012. After that we’ll be seeing Pixar’s MONSTERS, INC. back in theaters, also in 3D, on December 19th, 2012. Let me be clear that I don’t have anything against 3D films or even re-releasing films in theaters for more money, however, it’s when the two are combined that’s when it becomes a little annoying. Pixar’s FINDING NEMO, MONSTERS, INC. and even TITANIC (not Pixar) are all being re-released in theaters just so they can jump on the 3D bandwagon. If your film was not originally released in 3D then why bother messing around with it? It just seems like a cheap trick to me. I would respect the studios a lot more if they just said they were re-releasing the films in theaters for an anniversary or something to that effect. The only positive thing about this re-release is that a new generation of kids get to see the film on the big screen, which I can completely get behind.

Pixar’s MONSTERS, INC. was first released in 2001 and features the voice talents of: Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, James Coburn, Jennifer Tilly, John Ratzenberger and Mary Gibbs. You can catch the film again in theaters on December 19th, 2012. (Disney-Pixar)
