Quentin Tarantino's new movie might be a Western

For anyone that has been following Quentin Tarantino over the years, you know that he does and says stuff like this all the time. He’ll drop the idea for a movie and his fans will go crazy for the idea of him doing a horror film, kung-fu movie, crime movie, WWII film, a sequel, etc. However, any time he mentions something, it’s still news. The other day he mentioned that now he wants to do a Western, but in typical Tarantino fashion, he wants to add his own twist on the genre:
“I’d like to do a Western. But rather than set it in Texas, have it in slavery times. With that subject that everybody is afraid to deal with…Let’s shine that light on ourselves. You could do a ponderous history lesson of slaves escaping on the Underground Railroad. Or, you could make a movie that would be exciting. Do it as an adventure. A spaghetti Western that takes place during that time. And I would call it ‘A Southern.'”
So there you have it; Quentin Tarantino is thinking about doing a Western. I’m an unabashed Tarantino fan and I think he’s an incredible director. Any genre he tackles will be better for it. I don’t think a Western is much of a stretch for him since he adds a little bit of the old spaghetti Westerns into most of his films. Of course, the bad news is that we’re going to have to wait several years before we find out if this ever comes to fruition.
