R.I.P.D. starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges coming to 3D Blu-ray in October

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced that the supernatural action/adventure film R.I.P.D., from director Robert Schwentke and starring Jeff Bridges, Ryan Reynolds, Kevin Bacon, Mary-Louise Parker, Stephanie Szostak and James Hong, will be available in both 2D and 3D Blu-ray on October 29, 2013.

Here’s the synopsis for R.I.P.D: Veteran sheriff Roy Pulsifer (Bridges), who has spent his career with legendary police force R.I.P.D. tracking monstrous souls disguised among the living as ordinary people, is none-to-happy to be assigned former rising-star detective Nick Walker (Reynolds) as his partner. However, upon uncovering a plot that could end life as we know it, the new duo have to turn grudging respect into top-notch teamwork to restore the cosmic balance…or watch the tunnel to the afterlife spill angry souls onto Earth. Check out the trailer for R.I.P.D. below.

R.I.P.D. died a terrible death (pun intended) at the box office only grossing over $33 million with a $130 million budget. Ouch! Poor Ryan Reynolds has had a rough streak as of late, but I’m hoping against all hope he turns it around, because he is just so pretty to look at.

Special features for R.I.P.D. include: Two Alternate Openings, R.I.P.D. Motion Comics: Bringing the Avatars to Life, Nick’s New Avatars: See the other Avatar contenders for Nick and Hayes (Kevin Bacon), Filming the Other Side: The cast and crew talk about Schwentke’s unique filming technique, Walking Among Us: Deados & Avatars: Explore what a Deado is, what happens when they “pop” and the effects that went into creating these unique creatures, Anatomy of a Shootout: The Production Designer and the VFX Supervisor provide an in-depth look at the cinematic shootout scene on the roof of the skyscraper, Alternate Scenes: Nick & Hayes to Raid, Julia Jogging & Made to My Skull, Deleted Scene: Roy’s Partner Shot Him, Gag Reel and Transfering R.I.P.D: A “Making Of” that focuses on the adaption of the original R.I.P.D. comic and the stellar cast that came to inhabit the characters.
