Rachel Weisz to star with Colin Firth and Jeremy Irvine in The Railway Man

Despite her extremely confusing choices in roles, Rachel Weisz remains one of our favorite actresses working today. We try to ignore things like DREAM HOUSE and instead focus on her more captivating films like THE CONSTANT GARDENER. Although it will pain me to see her star in the upcoming reboot, THE BOURNE LEGACY with Jeremy Renner, at least I can look forward to her starring in the dramatic THE RAILWAY MAN. The film is about a British lieutenant that gets captured during World War II by the Japanese army and after a series of brutal tortures, he’s eventually forced to help build the infamous bridge over the river Kwai (yes, the one that the movie is based on).
In the film, Jeremy Irvine (who stars in the upcoming WAR HORSE) will play the young lieutenant that endures the torture, Colin Firth will play him as he gets older and suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and Rachel Weisz will play his wife that helps him deal with his issues. Jonathan Teplitzky is directing the film that’s sure to be a hot item come next awards season.
