Reese Witherspoon will play The Beard

Reese Witherspoon has signed on to co-produce and star in the upcoming comedy THE BEARD which is pretty much about what you would think it’s about. Reese Witherspoon will play a character who pretends to date a guy and helps him keep his sexual preferences a secret to the public. Not the most original plot of all time, but with a decent writer it might not be too awful. There aren’t any other plot details to reveal but one can only assume this is a romantic comedy so I’m sure as soon as Reese Witherspoon starts posing as the girlfriend to her gay friend, she’ll find the love of her life and hence comedy will ensue. Sometimes these romantic comedies are just too formulaic for their own good, though I suppose they could throw a curve ball somewhere in there. We’ll keep you posted on casting news.
Reese Witherspoon can be seen next in the films MUD and DEVIL’S KNOT which are both dramas that are supposed to be released sometime next year. (THR)
