Renee Zellweger set to star in and direct 4 1/2 Minutes
It seems like it’s been awhile since we’ve seen Academy Award winner Renee Zellweger in a good film so she’s taking the route that nearly every respected actor/actress takes and is stepping behind the camera. Renee Zellweger will make her directorial debut with the comedy 4 1/2 MINUTES. The script was written by Anthony Tambakis (who also wrote WARRIOR) and follows a stand-up comic to be played by Johnny Knoxville who is described as a “commitment-phobic, train-wreck of a comedian whose life is falling apart when he takes a job looking after the genius son of single mom P.J. Andersen (Renee Zellweger).” Sounds mildly interesting but only because Renee Zellweger is in the film, Johnny Knoxville has yet to make a film this writer finds enjoyable. Shooting for 4 1/2 MINUTES should begin in February in New York City.
The only other thing Renee Zellweger has on the horizon is BRIDGET JONES’S BABY which is apparently in pre-production but has no release date as of yet. It’ll be interesting to see if fans of the franchise will return for a third installment. (Variety)
