Robert Downey Jr. being eyed for Tim Burton's live action Pinocchio
If you’ve ever stopped and really thought about it, the idea of PINOCCHIO is very creepy. So learning that Tim Burton is wanting to make a live action film based on the cherished children’s classic is not surprising at all. To say Burton is eccentric is an understatement and he can create strange and odd worlds when dealing with normal stories, so imagine what he could do with something like PINOCCHIO. With that said, I’m a little disappointed to learn he’s taking the easy way out and adapting something (again) that’s already been done before. I’d still like Burton to go back and do more original films.
But if Burton gets his way, none other than Robert Downey Jr. will end up playing the role of Geppetto. But before you get too excited, know that this film is being set up at Warner Bros. and RDJ seems to be the first actor mentioned any time there’s a role at WB that requires even an ounce of acting. Not only that, but both he and Burton are deciding between a number of different films at the moment and this seems to be more of a dream for WB than something they can actually make happen. The good news is that the script is from ‘Pushing Daisies’ vet Bryan Fuller.
