Robert Downey Jr. eying Steve McQueen’s Yucatan

Posted by: Brad Sturdivant

Robert Downey Jr. and producer-wife Susan Downey recently formed the company “The Downeys”, which will be a Warner Brothers production company.  The first picture they’ll throw into production is the heist film YUCATAN.  YUCATAN has a legendary past as it is the brainchild of the late Steve McQueen that was found in a trunk several years after his death.  WB has tried several times to get a YUCATAN movie made, but supposedly, McQueen left over 1,700 pages of notes and not much of a specific script.

I can’t imagine someone going through my notebook that I use to take notes and to trying to make sense of it, so hopefully McQueen took better, and clearer, notes than I do.  Robert Downey Jr. has not agreed to star in the film, but obviously has the first shot at starring in it.
