Robert Downey Jr. to play a Game of Shadows in Sherlock Holmes 2

Hot off the heels of Sony’s announcement that the next Spider-man film will be titled THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, Warner Brothers announced today that the next Sherlock Holmes film will be called SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS. Personally, I’m more of a fan of traditional, numerical titles for sequels, but with lead actors being changed out every other film, I see why they’d want to mix things up a bit. I just think “A Game of Shadows” is one of those subtitles that isn’t going to fit wit the actual film. It sounds more like the title to a Scooby Doo cartoon.
The sequel finds Sherlock Holmes and his trusty sidekick Dr. Watson up against their arch enemy Professor Moriarity. But with everything else out there about this film, the most exciting thing for me is that Noomi Rapace will be the female lead. Along with Downey Jr. and Rapace, the film stars Jude Law, Stephen Fry and Jared Harris. Guy Ritchie is returning as director and the film is slated for a December 16th release.
