Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart set the 2010 UK box office record with Twilight: Eclipse

I thought when we reported the final US domestic box office numbers for TWILIGHT: ECLIPSE, we’d be done reporting numbers for the third Twilight film. But I forgot that the film didn’t open in the United Kingdom until this past weekend and sure enough, it did exceptionally well across the pond as well. The film took in 13.75 million pounds (about $21 million US dollars) during it’s opening weekend, beating the previous 2010 best held by ALICE IN WONDERLAND, which took in 10.5 pounds ($15.9 million US). However, it should be noted that those numbers are skewed a little bit since they’re also counting he promo screenings that happened earlier in the week. So I guess it depends on how you look at it. Either way, the film is doing well everywhere in the world.
Even with the success of the film, it did drop pretty heavy this past week, in only its second weekend in release. So it looks like one of the many films that will explode the first weekend and then won’t make any more money until the eventual Blu-ray release. The film stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Jackson Rathbone, Ashley Greene, Taylor Lautner, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed and Dakota Fanning. And just for a change, here’s a picture of Ashley Greene and Jackson Rathbone.
