Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 beats The Muppets at the Thanksgiving weekend box office

Well, the news for the Thanksgiving weekend box office ended up being worse than we originally thought. As Wednesday wrapped up, it looked like THE MUPPETS was going to pull in over $50 million and maybe make a run at finishing in first place. But as the holiday progressed, THE MUPPETS lost steam and now it looks like it will finish somewhere around $44 million. Meanwhile, THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN PART 1 looks like it will easily take the top spot with about $61 million. But once again, the biggest news is how poorly Martin Scorsese’s HUGO is performing and it can’t even break the $15 million mark.
Twilight will have zero competition at the box office next weekend, but might run into some trouble on December 9th with THE SITTER and TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY. Either way, the fourth Twilight film should continue going strong. And like I’ve suggested before, if you haven’t already seen THE MUPPETS, then go and take your family to see it; you won’t be disappointed. Note: the numbers below will be updates as they become final.
1. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 $61.3m
2. The Muppets $43.5m
3. Happy Feet 2 $18m
4. Arthur Christmas $16.5m
5. Hugo $15m
6. Jack & Jill $14m
7. Immortals $13.3m
8. Puss in Boots $11.5m
9. Tower Heist $10m
10. The Descendants $9m
