Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 has second largest midnight opening

All of the Twilight films have been critical failures, but is it just me, or is THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN PART 1 receiving some even harsher reviews than its predecessors? Of course, critical success and box office success usually don’t have any correlation and it’s true again with the case of Breaking Dawn Part 1. The filmed opened to midnight showings last night/this morning to a tune of $30.25 million , which is good enough for second on the all time midnight showing list. The only other movie to beat it was this summer’s Harry Potter finale, which hauled in a whopping $43.5 million. If that’s an indicator, then I’m guessing Part 2 of Breaking Dawn will do even better, given it might be the last time we see Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart on the big screen together.
To put it in perspective, New Moon took in $26.3 million and Eclipse took in $30.1 on their midnight releases, so Breaking Dawn is tracking slightly better. It’ll be interesting to see how long it lasts and whether it can set any opening weekend records along the way.
