Robert Pattinson and Taylor Kitsch won't be starring in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
For those of you that are die-hard fans of THE HUNGER GAMES, we have a little bit of a good news – bad news situation for you. First, the good news; Taylor Kitsch will not be starring in THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE. After setting records for box office futility with JOHN CARTER and BATTLESHIP, the former star of ‘Friday Night Lights’ will not have a chance to take down the mega-franchise that is The Hunger Games. Although it’s probably a bad move on his part since he needs a big budget hit if he wants to continue to try and convince the world he’s a movie star. The LA Times asked him about it and Mr. Kitsch politely responded “not going to happen”.
So that brings us to the bad news; Robert Pattinson will also not be starring in THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE. It would make zero sense for him to appear in another teen-centric franchise, but rumors were swirling that he might take on the role of Finnick Odair (the same role Kitsch was rumored to be offered), but Pattinson shot that down a few days ago when he mentioned to The USA Today “I woke up this morning and saw all these things about me being cast in ‘The Hunger Games.’ I was kind of curious for a second. So I called my agent. [He] was like no one’s going to offer you that part. I was like, thanks for the reassurance.” His denial of involvement was a little more snide than Kitsch’s, but it’s clear neither actor has any interest in being a part of another franchise (or failed franchise in Kitsch’s case).
So the rumor mill will have to continue to swirl and we should be hearing some responses from Garrett Hedlund and Armie Hammer shortly since they’re the only ones from the original list that haven’t turned the role down yet. I’m guessing Hedlund won’t bite since he had TRON: LEGACY, but it might be a good role for Hammer.
