Robocop drops first poster
I don’t know how excited I am to see the new ROBOCOP (click the link to watch the trailer). I think it goes back the same old complaint of being irritated by the lack of originality in Hollywood and subsequently the abundance of remakes. However, I do think science fiction is a genre that can benefit from remakes because of the technological advances. Even the new look of Robocop on the first poster seems a little lackluster. But this could just be me being an old fuddy duddy that grew up with the original look and will always like it better. I’m sure it will be a fun movie for a new generation. ROBOCOP stars Joel Kinnaman, Abbie Cornish, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael K. Williams, Jay Baruchel and Jennifer Ehle. The Jose Padilha directed film hits theaters on February 7th, 2014.
The official ROBOCOP synopsis: The year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years – and it’s meant billions for OmniCorp’s bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.
