Russell Crowe and Emma Watson star in the first Noah trailer

Russell Crowe in the Noah trailer

The first trailer for Darren Aronofsky’s much talked about NOAH is finally online and not in bootleg form. The film has been the poster child for director’s vision versus a studio’s desire to appeal to a mass audience. The trailer looks pretty good, but I think the film will be known more for the various groups it’s going to anger than for how good of a film it is. Religious groups are protective of their legends and the story of Noah’s Ark is one of the more cherished Sunday school stories. As you recall, NOAH tells the story of a man chosen by God to build an ark before the great flood. Of course, this is not your traditional telling and we’ll have to wait until next March to see just how much Aronofsky made it his own.

NOAH stars Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Anthony Hopkins, Ray Winstone, Jennifer Connelly, Douglas Booth, Martin Csokas, Dakota Goyo, Kevin Durand, Arnar Dan and Johannes Haukur Johanesson. The Darren Aronofsky directed film hits theaters on March 28th, 2014.
