Russell Crowe set to star as The Equalizer

Posted by: Brad Sturdivant

When I was a wee lad, I used to watch all of the grown-up dramas with my parents.  I could actually appreciate shows like ‘Hill Street Blues’, ‘St. Elsewhere’ and others.  But one show I couldn’t understand the appeal of was ‘The Equalizer’.  Even now, I don’t get what people liked about it.  Edward Woodward was just so old when he starred as secret agent Robert McCall and watching him going around beating up young kids just didn’t connect with me.  But it looks like Russell Crowe feels otherwise and is set to bring the character to the big screen.

The project has been in development for a while, but now that Crowe is attached, it actually looks like it’s going to get made.  Although they don’t have a confirmed director, David von Ancken was the last director attached to the movie.  As of now, however, we don’t know if he’s still on board.
