Ryan Gosling and George Clooney face off in a new poster for The Ides of March

I feel like one day I woke up and Ryan Gosling was a huge star. He’s already proven his acting ability in films like HALF NELSON and LARS AND THE REAL GIRL and of course had THE NOTEBOOK, but I never really thought of him as an A-lister until now. But with CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE this summer, DRIVE in a couple of weeks and THE IDES OF MARCH (watch the trailer) later in the fall, he’s officially a major Hollywood player. And you know you’ve made it when your picture gets equal space alongside George Clooney.

The film is about a hot shot campaign manager (Gosling) that ends up playing some dirty games to get his candidate (Clooney) nominated to go against a rival senator. But things get hairy when he starts questioning his own motives. Along with Gosling and Clooney (who also is directing), the film stars Paul Giamatti, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood. THE IDES OF MARCH hits theaters on October 7^th.
