Ryan Gosling looks to join Harrison Ford in the Blade Runner sequel
Ryan Gosling doesn’t seem like a blockbuster kind of guy to me. I’m sure every studio wants him for every blockbuster role, but he doesn’t strike me as a guy that’s eager to sign up for big budget movies and multiple sequels. But if the news today is correct, Ryan Gosling will be starring in the sequel to the 1982 film BLADE RUNNER. Gosling is pretty picky about what roles he takes, so I’m guessing the script to this must be pretty special. Of course, Gosling did GANGSTER SQUAD, so it just shows that you can’t win ‘em all.
Unfortunately, details are scarce at this point, but we do know Harrison Ford is set to return as Rick Deckard and that the movie will be directed by Denis Villeneuve. The original film is such a classic nowadays, but I do think there is more story to be told. I like the idea of Villeneuve taking on directing duties as opposed to Ridley Scott and with Gosling and Ford involved, consider me cautiously optimistic. But this all comes down to the story and whether or not they can make a sequel worthwhile.
