Ryan Reynolds and Helen Mirren star in the first Woman in Gold trailer

Ryan Reynolds is probably the most confusing actor working today.  On one hand, I think the guy is talented and I find him to be very likeable in all of his movies.  On the other hand, I don’t think I’ve liked anything he’s done.  And it’s not just that his movies are bad, it’s that they’re historically bad.  Before I pressed “play” on this trailer, I was scared to death Reynolds was going to try and do a German accent.  It’s a movie set in Austria and his character has a German last name, so I thought it was a bad set up.  Thankfully, there’s no accent.  As for the movie, it looks like a good David vs. Goliath tale, but I’m not sure it will give us anything we haven’t seen before.  Check out the trailer below and see for yourself.

The film will follow Maria Altmann’s struggle to recover artwork from the Austrian government that was stolen from her family during World War II.  WOMAN IN GOLD stars Ryan Reynolds, Helen Mirren, Katie Holmes, Daniel Brühl, Elizabeth McGovern, Jonathan Pryce and Charles Dance.  The Simon Curtis directed film hits theaters in a limited release on April 3rd, 2015.
