Salma Hayek and Mathieu Demy in the first look at Americano
Posted by: Brad Sturdivant
French actor Mathieu Demy is breaking into Hollywood with his directorial effort AMERICANO in which he’s attracted a slew of fellow famous Hollywood relatives to help him. Chiara Mastroianni (the daughter of Catherine Deneuve), Geraldine Chaplin (daughter of Charlie Chaplin) and Carlos Bardem (brother to Javier) are all going to be starring with Demy and Salma Hayek in the film. AMERICANO is about a man (Demy) that returns to Los Angeles to sort his inheritance and then goes searching for a young woman (Salma Hayek) he knew as a child. He eventually finds her working in a strip club in Tijuana called The Americano.
The premise is interesting enough as movies about people sorting out their past can have a nice nostalgia to them. It’s an ambitious project given the numerous locations and international cast, but Demy is the son of two famous French filmmakers and should be able to pull it off. The film should be out in time for awards season later this year.
