Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy to team up in buddy cop movie for Bridesmaids director Paul Feig
It has been a strange few years for Ms. Sandra Bullock. After finally achieving some professional redemption for winning the Best Actress Oscar for her work in THE BLIND SIDE, Sandra Bullock went on a strange downward spiral when it was revealed her apparently loving husband was actually a scumbag. Sandra Bullock kind of disappeared for a while and then finally reappeared in the underrated EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE opposite Tom Hanks. Well, it looks like she’s is ready to get back to doing what she does best as the loveable actress has signed on to star in an untitled comedy for BRIDESMAIDS director Paul Feig.
Starring opposite Sandra Bullock in the comedy is Melissa McCarthy, who is riding high off the success of BRIDESMAIDS and her TV show ‘Mike and Molly’. The film they’ll be starring in centers around an uptight FBI agent and an unconventional Boston police officer. Now, we can all assume that Bullock will be playing the FBI agent (like she did in the MISS CONGENIALITY films), but I’d like to see a role reversal here with McCarthy playing the straight-laced professional and Sandra Bullock playing the slob. But something tells me that’s not going to happen. The last time we saw Sandra Bullock play off-type was probably FORCES OF NATURE, which actually happens to be one of my favorite Sandra Bullock films.
The project is coming together at a lightning pace and it could start (and finish) shooting this summer as McCarthy is on a tight 5-week schedule given her commitments to ‘Mike and Molly’. Sandra Bullock, on the other hand, seems to have an open schedule, so shooting in 5 weeks is a possibility. Given the star power of Sandra Bullock and the rising fame of Melissa McCarthy, this one is probably being prepped for a summer 2013 release. (Variety)
