Saoirse Ronan and Jennifer Connelly will join Russell Crowe in Noah
There’s been a lot of buzz going around about Darren Aronofsky’s (BLACK SWAN) upcoming project NOAH and it looks like we’re getting a few more casting confirmations. It’s been reported that Saoirse Ronan and Jennifer Connelly will join Russell Crowe in the film. In case you have been following the movie buzz, Liam Neeson was also in talks to join the film as the villain (though I don’t know who that would be) but there is no confirmation that he is still attached.
NOAH will of course be (loosely I’m sure) based on the biblical tale of Noah’s Ark. Noah (who will be played by Russell Crowe) was a man told by God to build an ark so the planet could be flooded and get a fresh start. I’m not sure how true to the story Aronofsky will be, but this is sure to be one huge film that at this time has an estimated cost of $125 million. Filming should start this summer with a theatrical release on March 28, 2014. No word yet on who Saoirse Ronan or Jennifer Connelly will play, but look for more information and casting announcements over the next few months.
Saoirse Ronan has really come out of the gate strong these last couple of years with a lot of films under her belt, which is pretty impressive since most people can’t even pronounce her name. By the way, Saoirse Ronan’s first name is pronounced SEER-shə, pretty, right? Anyway, Saoirse Ronan is attached to a slew of films over the next couple of years that include: BYZANTIUM, JUSTIN AND THE KNIGHTS OF VALOUR, THE HOST (from Twilight’s Stephenie Meyer), THE ORDER OF THE SEVEN, HOW I LIVE and now NOAH. Include the past successful films she’s worked on and that’s a pretty impressive resume for a young lady. I’m sure we’ll be seeing much more of Saoirse Ronan over the next couple of years, so we better all start saying her name correctly. (THR)
