Saoirse Ronan joins WWII drama How I Live Now

Saoirse Ronan’s on-screen presence is not something I am too familiar with. There was never a time that she just sort of jumped off the screen at me. I’ve seen parts of THE LOVELY BONES but as someone who has read the book as well did not like what they did with it in the least. I had to stop watching. She’s really just been in a bunch of movies that I had no interest in watching with the exception of HANNA, which I need to see at some point.
The young actress does seem to get a good amount of steady roles. More recently she was cast in THE HOST, an adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s sci-fi youth novel. Ronan is now joining another novel adaptation, this one of Meg Rosoff’s HOW I LIVE NOW. In the film, the actress would play a teenage girl from New York City who travels to England to spend the summer with family in the English countryside. When World War II breaks out and insurgents invade, Daisy and a younger girl named Piper must survive alone in the woods as they try to make it to safety.
Kevin McDonald (THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND) will helm the script from Jeremy Brock and Tony Grisoni.
