Scarlett Johansson to join Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren in Alfred Hitchcock And The Making Of Psycho

After Michelle Williams got so much acclaim portraying Marilyn Monroe in MY WEEK WITH MARILYN, which was basically a film about the making-of THE PRINCE AND THE SHOWGIRL, it’s no surprise that other actresses would try to duplicate that success.  The latest to take the plunge as a famous actress in a movie about the making of another movie is Scarlett Johansson, who will play Janet Leigh in Alfred Hitchcock And The Making Of Psycho.  The title pretty much describes the plot and the role of Janet Leigh is said to be very “awards worthy”, so Johansson should be able to knock it out of the park.

So far, the cast is shaping up nicely, with Anthony Hopkins set to play Alfred Hitchcock, Helen Mirren to play his wife Alma Reville and James D’Arcy to play Anthony Perkins.  The film will be directed by Sacha Gervasi from a script by John McLaughlin and Tom Thayer.  Filming will start in April.
