Scott Derrickson will direct Goliath

Scott Derrickson, best known for directing THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE as well as THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, will direct the upcoming epic GOLIATH for Relativity Media.  The film of course is based on the Biblical story of David and Goliath where a young shepherd takes down a seasoned soldier with a slingshot.  Usually the story focuses on David, the young meek man who rises to the occasion to save his people, but Relativity Media looks to be taking a different stance.  Since the film seems to be titled GOLIATH, we’re apparently going to be getting more of the giant warrior’s stand point. The movie, “harkens to the spirit of films such as 300 and THE BOURNE IDENTITY.” The film will be penned by John D. Payne and Patrick McKay no word on when production will start.

I think this film has a lot of potential and will appeal to a wide audience.  Who doesn’t want to watch a story they’ve been told since they were kids.
