Selena Gomez may star in 13 Reasons Why

It would appear that studios (Universal Studios in particular) find Selena Gomez to be a rising star in Hollywood, so they have acquired the rights for the novel from Jay Asher called 13 REASONS WHY for Gomez to headline. The screenplay will be adapted by Jennifer O’Kieffe and the story follows:
A shy California high school student who returns from school to find a box waiting on his doorstep. It contains seven cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker, the classmate he had a crush on. Before she committed suicide, Hannah sent the tapes to one classmate with instructions to pass them on to a list of students like a chain letter. The tapes explain to 13 people how they played a role in her death.
Yes, we too are assuming that Gomez will take on the depressing role of Hannah which is a far cry from her other projects which include her part on the Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place and last year’s RAMONA AND BEEZUS. Other casting news should be rolling in shortly as well as who will be directing the film.
