Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens and James Franco in new images from Spring Breakers

It’s hard to think of Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens as anything other than innocent teen actresses. Selena Gomez got her start dancing with a purple dinosaur in ‘Barney and Friends’ while Vanessa Hudgens got her big break singing her way through high school in the once-popular High School Musical Disney films. But in Hollywood, erasing an innocent image is just as easy as building one (just ask Lindsay Lohan) and what better way for Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens to prove to the world they’re adults than to star in a movie filled with drugs, underage drinking and violence, all the while running around in very little clothing? I’m pretty sure that as long as Selena Gomez is going to be seen with Justin Bieber, America will never see her as grown up, but robbing restaurants and killing drug dealers is a decent start.
The film features a slew of big names, including Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine and James Franco. The film is about four college girls that rob a fast food restaurant to get money to pay for their big spring break vacation, but get arrested as soon as they get to their destination. But they get bailed out by a rapping drug dealer, who enlists them to kill his cross-town rival. Below you can find several pics from the film, all of them unofficial, but the one that’s causing the most buzz is the second pic below of James Franco as the rapping drug dealer. It’s hard not to be curious as to what he’ll do with the role. That, and to see how far Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens will go to prove they’ve grown up.
I will also be curious to see what director Harmony Korine does with such a basic script and with young actresses like Selena Gomez an Vanessa Hudgens. There’s no release date yet, but I’d bet a dollar this will come out next spring break. (E!, Playlist)
