Seth Rogen and James Franco star in the new red band trailer for The Interview

I have a hard time believing that the threats made by North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un could actually influence Columbia Pictures enough to change anything in their upcoming comedy, THE INTERVIEW.  But the delayed release date and rumors around the change in the ending lead me to believe Columbia might have blinked a little bit.  Either way, it’s clear from this new red band trailer that something has changed in their marketing.  For starters, Randall Park (who plays Kim Jong-Un) doesn’t appear anywhere in the film.  Seth Rogen is pretty open in interviews, so maybe he’ll clear up some of the changes, but until then, enjoy the new red band trailer below.

The official synopsis for THE INTERVIEW: In the action-comedy, Dave Skylark (James Franco) and his producer Aaron Rapoport (Seth Rogen) run the popular celebrity tabloid TV show “Skylark Tonight.” When they discover that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un is a fan of the show, they land an interview with him in an attempt to legitimize themselves as journalists. As Dave and Aaron prepare to travel to Pyongyang, their plans change when the CIA recruits them, perhaps the two least-qualified men imaginable, to assassinate Kim Jong-un.  The film stars James Franco, Seth Rogen, Lizzy Caplan, Diana Bang and Randall Park.  The Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen directed film hits theaters on December 25th.
