Sharlto Copley to star in the science fiction saga I Am Number Four

Sharlto Copley is well on his way to being a household name, if he isn’t already. After wowing us in the great DISTRICT 9, he’ll be cracking us up as the zany Murdock in the upcoming A-TEAM movie. Today we learn that he’s about to sign on for the science fiction film I AM NUMBER FOUR. The movie is actually based on the six-book science fiction series written by James Frey and Jobie Hughes. The film is about 9 teenage kids that come to earth when their planet is destroyed, but go on the run when their planet’s destroyer comes looking for them. Copley will play the mentor/guardian to the lead kid (Alex Pettyfer).
No word yet on whether they’ll be combining certain books or making each one into its own film. Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg are producing and we know from history that Senor Spielbergo likes to combine books rather than do each one individually.
