Shia LaBeouf and Transformers: Dark of the Moon heading back to theaters for another two weeks

Due to the success of Michael Bay’s third film in the TRANSFORMERS franchise, entitled TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON, Paramount has decided to release the film again for an extended two-week run in theaters. If you didn’t get a chance to see it the first time around, you can catch Optimus Prime and Bumblebee on Friday, August 26th through Thursday, September 8th in select IMAX theaters across the country.
TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON has grossed $1,095 billion to date (which is just crazy) and could pull in millions more with this re-release. For those who (somehow) missed it, the film follows Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) and his transforming friends who take on an enemy that threatens to destroy Earth and humanity. The film was directed by Michael Bay with Steven Spielberg as an executive producer. Check out the trailer below.
In a time where 3D televisions and home theater systems are easily accessible for consumers, I find it interesting that a movie would be re-released in theaters. I’ll be interested to see how well this performs and if re-releasing a blockbuster like this proves profitable for Paramount.
