Shia LaBeouf shows off his curly locks in first image from The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman
Even though his most memorable performance was Sam Witwicky in the TRANSFORMERS franchise, Shia LaBeouf has given several memorable performances but I suspect the best are yet to come. At only 25 years-old, Shia LaBeouf has left quite an impression on Hollywood, such an impression that he’s taken on one of the leads in one of my most anticipated films of the year which is John Hillcoat’s LAWLESS. Shia LaBeouf is also set to star in Robert Redford’s THE COMPANY YOU KEEP and is the lead in next year’s action/comedy/romance THE NECESSARY DEATH OF CHARLIE COUNTRYMAN (which is way too long of a title to have any success at the box office). Watch out world, Shia LaBeouf is starting to take some roles that might actually earn him some awards in the upcoming years.
THE NECESSARY DEATH OF CHARLIE COUNTRYMAN is being directed by Frederik Bond and looks to be a dark comedy/crime/action flick that follows a young man named Charlie Countryman (Shia LaBeouf) who falls for a girl named Gabi (Evan Rachel Wood) that is already involved with a violent crime boss. Considering the title of the film, I don’t think this will end well for young Charlie Countryman, but hopefully it’ll be a fun ride. THE NECESSARY DEATH OF CHARLIE COUNTRYMAN also stars: Til Schweiger, Mads Mikkelsen, Melissa Leo and James Buckley, it is in the filming stage and is set to be released sometime in 2013.
I have high hopes for Shia LaBeouf and have no doubt we’ll be seeing him in films for many years to come. He actually reminds me of a young Leonardo DiCaprio in that he really has the talent on screen and has a special knack for picking good screenplays. Good thing Shia LaBeouf doesn’t really have to overcome that whole teen heartthrob thing. (The Playlist)
