Star Wars: Episode 7 rumor roundup: Matthew Vaughn resurfaces, Mark Hamill knows nothing

Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope

Between the Batman rumors and the Star Wars developments, movie news webmasters across the globe can see their future for the next 10 years.  Today we got slammed with several tidbits, which I’ve compiled here.

Matthew Vaughn is directing Episode 7.  Maybe.: Harry Knowles at AICN says that Vaughn’s BFF Jason Flemying practically confirmed that Vaughn is directing Episode 7.  What does this mean?  Not much.  There are too many degrees of separation between the reporter and the source, but it’s reasonable to believe that Flemying would know what Vaughn is doing, but we don’t know exactly what was said or what the context was.  But this lines up with the theory that Vaughn dropped the X-Men sequel to jump on Star Wars.  Oh, and to add to the confusion, Mark Millar says that Vaughn left X-Men to direct Millar’s comic, ‘The Secret Service’.  Although to be technical, Millar doesn’t say anything about Star Wars. Mark Hamill knows nothing:  Comingsoon caught up with Mark Hamill, who is out promoting his new film SUSHI GIRL, and asked him if he had any updates about Episode 7 and he said that nothing has been decided one way or the other regarding his involvement.  Hamill has to be careful, of course, so take this with a grain of salt. Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg might be writing Star Wars spin-offs: Originally, it was believed that Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg were hired to write STAR WARS: EPISODE VII and IX, but now it’s being reported that they were actually brought on to write Star Wars spin-offs and not the sequels.  Disney claimed that they wanted to do a Star Wars movie every 2-3 years and model it after their Marvel franchise and spin-offs could be a good way to accomplish that.  But the idea of a Star Wars spin-off just makes me nervous.
