Star Wars: Episode VII will not be directed by Brad Bird
So what do Brad Bird, Ben Affleck, Quentin Tarantino, J.J. Abrams, Zack Snyder and Steven Spielberg all have in common? Well, they’ve all categorically denied that they will be directing STAR WARS: EPISODE VII. Brad Bird got on his Twitter account today and rattled off a few responses to fans asking for his involvement. He said: “Not doing Star Wars”, “Nope. A science fiction film. Not Star Wars.”, “It’s not Episode VII.” and “Thanks. But the science fiction film I AM doing is gonna be cool.” By the fourth Tweet, he seemed to get frustrated at people asking the same question and not letting it go.
Brad Bird would have been a good choice, talent-wise, but I’m not sure he’s what the franchise needs. He’s a busy man that just had a huge hit with MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL and I’m sure he wants to continue his success of non-animated films. He just doesn’t strike me as the kind of guy that wants to spend the next decade of his life directing Star Wars movies. So now that six directors have officially ruled themselves out and Jon Favreau, Guillermo del Toro and Joe Johnston have left their names in, who do you want to see direct the next Star Wars film?
