Steve Carell stars as Gru in the new Despicable Me 2 poster

The first DESPICABLE ME was a surprise joy, so I’m curious if the follow up can capture that same magic.  It’s always fun when you have a goofy villain as the lead and then a ton of wacky minions, who practically steal the show for every scene they are in.  The new poster for DESPICABLE ME 2 seems to capitalize on just that with Steve Carell voicing Gru front and center speaking to his hundreds of minions.  Kristin Wiig is always funny and should be a nice addition.  The oddest news surrounding the film has to be Al Pacino dropping out with only two months before the release date.  Must I remind Mr. Pacino that he starred in Adam Sandler’s dreadful JACK AND JILL so I can’t for the life of me figure out why he dropped out of a successful family film where he would only be heard and not seen.  Benjamin Bratt has replaced Al Pacino and while Bratt is no Pacino, good for him for stepping up to the plate.
