Steve Carell looking to star in Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
Comedian and former star of ‘The Office’, Steve Carell might be the hardest working man in showbiz right now. His last movie was CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE, which hit theaters last summer, but for 2012, he has SEEKING A FRIEND FOR THE END OF THE WORLD with Keira Knightley and HOPE SPRINGS with Meryl Streep. For 2013, he has THE INCREDIBLE BURT WONDERSTONE with Jim Carrey, DESPICABLE ME 2 and FRANK OR FRANCIS. Oh, and Steve Carell also has the long overdue sequel to ANCHORMAN, which might be done in time for a 2013 release. So yeah, Steve Carell is pretty busy. Now you can add a starring role in the adaptation of the classic children’s book “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” by Judith Vorst.
We’re in the process of moving across the country, so the title of the book pretty much describes the last three days of my life. But it’s actually about a kid named Alexander who is having an absolutely horrible day, complete with gum in his hair. Things get so bad that he considers moving to Australia. And the entire book is written in a sing-songy tone, so there’s that. And no, I’m not sure how they’re going to turn this into a movie and no, I’m not sure what Steve Carell will be doing in the film, although I assume he’ll play the kids father and will have a smaller part.
As popular as Steve Carell is these days, I have to admit that it took me a while to actually start liking him. I wasn’t the biggest fan of ‘The Office’, but I actually find that I like Steve Carell more in films like DAN IN REAL LIFE and CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE than I do his slapstick roles. THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT director Lisa Cholodenko will be helming this one for Steve Carell. (Deadline)
