Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro settle the score in the first Grudge Match trailer
Since they’re both in the middle of an attempted career revival, it only makes sense that Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro would team up for a movie that would remind audiences of two of their most iconic characters. A boxing Sylvester Stallone, of course, reminds everyone of Rocky while a boxing Robert De Niro reminds everyone of RAGING BULL. But putting these two former heavyweights in the same movie feels a little too gimmicky to me, even if the first trailer isn’t quite horrible. Sorry, that’s about as nice a compliment as I can pay this movie right now. GRUDGE MATCH stars Sylvester Stallone, Robert De Niro, Kevin Hart, Kim Basinger, Alan Arkin and Joe Bernthal. The Peter Segal directed film hits theaters on Christmas Day.
The official synopsis: Opening in theaters on Christmas Day, the story revolves around retired boxers Billy “The Kid” McDonnen and Henry “Razor” Sharp, lifelong bitter rivals who are coaxed out of retirement and into the ring for one final grudge match — 50 years after their last title fight.
